Still getting myself into a good groove where I can be regular with my posts...
I see there are many many bloggers that have many different topics. I mainly want to share my heart and doing it this way allows me to share with anyone whose interested & its much faster than writing it out by hand.
Today I read Genesis 31 In this chapter (I read out of the Clear Word) its header is 'Jacob flees'. Jacob has worked 20 years to get the wife, Rachel, he desired from his Uncle Laban. God saw how Laban had tricked Jacob so He caused Jacob to be blessed with a quickly growing flock to take with him when he was finally able to leave. Verse7 But the Lord has been with me and kept me from harm.
Jacob realizes that the Lord has blessed him. He had a dream where the Verse11 Angel of the Lord called, "Jacob!" I answered, "Here I am!" The Lord goes on to remind Jacob He has seen all Laban has done to him and that Hes the same God that Jacob Verse13 set up a pillar of stone and anointed it with oil, vowing to be faithful to me if I forgave you.
Jacob called his wives Leah & Rachel out to the fields to have privacy and told them he notice their father was treating him unkindly & the wives agreed saying Verse15 He sold us to you as he sells property so they went to their camps packed and headed back to Jacobs father Isaac who was still alive.
When Laban heard of Jacobs departure Verse23 Without a moments hesitation he started after him with burly men. In a dream that night God told Laban to not threaten nor flatter Jacob to get him to return. What Jacob didnt know was that Rachel had taken the fertility goddesses from her father so when Laban caught up to them Jacob gave permission for them to search his things & kill whoever was found with them. Rachel lied and said she was on her monthly period so she didnt have to dismount from her camel where the saddlebags containing the items were hidden.
A covenant was made between Laban & Jacob Verse44 So lets make a covenant between us and put a marker right here as a sign of our agreement Verse46 then to ratify their agreement, they sat next to the stone marker and ate together. verse47: Laban gave the stone marker an Aramaic name, Jegar Sahadutha, meaning A Pile of Stones to Remind Us.
I'd like to learn this simple yet powerful way of honoring promises & covenants made with God...One day when I own my own home I'd like to pile up some rocks & follow this example
